Changing the timeout of radio .T5.1

Anyone know if I can change the timeout for the radio in our T5.1 , my 2004 T5 seems to stay on for as long as I like until the key is removed but our 2012 model turns off after about 6 minutes or so , really annoying if I,m wanting to listen to music while parked . I have a Launch X-431 ProS V Professional Scan Tool but unsure which part of the vans system I need to get into . I was able to disable the drivers door only unlock which made me happy but I would like to change the timeout for the radio if I can .

I am not sure about the answer to the first part of your question, but am curious about what you fixed with the driver door lock. We have a situation where after replacing the drivers door lock with one from ebay, it now locks itself after the car drives off, and all other doors stay locked but the driver's door lock lifts back up immediately. It also won't stay locked if locked by the door manual switch, but will stay locked if locked by the fob.

Is this what you are talking about, and if so, how did you fix it ?

Actually I do have one thought on your radio issue, isn't 6 min about the time before the interior lights go out, could the switched 12 V be wired to the wrong fuse. Does the interior lights go out at the same time as the radio stops ?

No, I don't know how or if it can be corrected. I asked a shop nearby who know how to scan and do settings and they couldn't see anything wrong, so maybe there is different types of door locks.

No in my case we replaced the vans BCM/computer after it went south and the new one came with the anti jacking system for the doors standard . Drove me nuts as for 1o years I just unlocked and then if I was driving just went around and opened any door , with the new computer I had to remember to unlock twice or use the door mounted lock to unlock the other doors a real pain . So with the Launch tool I was able to revert it to all doors unlocking Yay !

Hmm never checked but I will now thanks for that tit bit .

I am not sure which diagnostic tool your mechanic has but I went into the cars system and then selected from about 45 different settings for lots of things , the door settings were in there and it was simple to change ours .

Thanks, I'm sure I could find it if I had the connecting leads. I don't think they could be bothered spending time on it.

The Launch tool is via a bluetooth dongle which plugs into the cars OBD port , no leads to worry about . I use it to recalibrate Mercedes Sunroofs in my work .

I dont think the OBDELEVEN does anything differently , the Launch tool also does hundreds of other cars from all over the world , I get updates every time its turned on and if something comes up during a scan I can instantly go online and get information or in most cases an update package for that car . The main issue is that ours is a basic Transporter model and when you go looking for something to change just for the radio there are about 12 different areas for all the VW options fitted from Vans to Multivans its mind boggling !!!
