Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T6 Oil Filter Access/Location

    Hi folks,

As per the thread title where is the oil filter in a T6 and what's the access like for competent home mechanicals types?

Last night the check oil level warning started so I want to do an oil and filter change today.

Also would you recommend using a flush product with the old oil?

    Cheers,

    Tony

Skip to about the 5.00 minute mark. Its a cannister filter and you access it from underneath the car near the sump.

Funny as I linked to that video first and then realised it was a T5 and might be different to a T6.

Mine is October 2016, T6 but no AdBlue. Maybe some of the mechanicals are T5?

Could be possibly. The videos linked above are Uk/European spec cars so they might also be a bit different. Your might be right on the edge of when they were switching from T5 to T6 and its a bit of a mix?

No AdBlue - count yourself lucky. The AdBlue systems are notoriously problematic and very expensive to fix so that's one less thing to worry about.
