Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T6 transporter - Armrests

    Hi all

First time posting here, couldn't find similar post. Having trouble finding information on fitting armrests to factory standard seats for both driver and passenger front seats. I would very much like to convert them both to captain seats and then get them reupolstered.

Does anyone know if this is legal to fit them on both sides of the seats, I read somewhere about European and Australian transporters being different in airbag placement or could I just replace them with non airbagged seats?

    Thankyou for your time!

If its got airbags in the side then your not allowed to change the seats , I fitted an armrest to each inside backrest of our 2012 T5.1 as it had factory holes already in the frame but no airbags . I was lucky to get some from a mate who was doing custom interiors to mobile homes and they would change the factory Toyota armrests for a different style so those ones bolted onto the factory points with only one extra hole being drilled . They are adjustable and also fold back .
