Which fuel filter to use on my 2013 T5 TDI340 2.0L
Are the aftermarket ones any good which range from $35 to OEM at $180 ?
Mine has 4 hoses in the top and approx. 240mm long and 78mm OD

    Thanx

This should be the correct one, and Mann Filters are an OEM manufacturer for VW: Fuel Filter WK857/1 MANN-FILTER for VW | Run Auto Parts

Perhaps just do a quick cross reference of the part number on the Mann website. MANN-FILTER Online Catalog Australia - Product Details Fuel Filter WK 857/1

Googling the part number WK857/1, its about $20 cheaper at Sparesbox: MANN Fuel Filter WK857/1 | Sparesbox

I always prefer Mann over anything else, just buy from the bigger shops, there are fakes out there.

MANN, Mahle and Hengst are all OEM.

Have used all 3 for 10+ years, no issues at all.

First time I changed mine I didn't have VCDS to prime the system and it took me and the NRMA guy about 2 hours to start it!

Fair point - yes you need to be able to prime the system after changing the fuel filter so you will need a tool like VCDS to do so.

I've seen guys on YT filling the empty filter with fuel by hand and getting them to start but it seemed like too much mucking around to me!

So, calling the NRMA, playing around for 2 hours is not too much mucking around ? Filling the new filter takes a few minutes, engine gives a couple of very brief hiccups and away you go.
