Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Roller Door

Hi all , would anyone be able to help or know where to get one of these in oz: VOLKSWAGEN TRANSPORTER T5 SLIDING DOOR ROLLER GUIDE RIGHT BOTTOM HOOKE – AXI CAR PARTS
I can find left side ones but not right.

I haven’t called Vw genuine parts yet but bet it would be expensive.
    Thanks in advance

    It this it perhaps?
for VW TRANSPORTER T5 Sliding Door Roller Hinge / Bottom Right | eBay

Volkswagen T5 Door Roller Guide Door Holder 7H0843398 | eBay

With VW part numbers, its usually only the very last section of the part number that varies between LHD and RHD parts.

Thanks for reply. The first link to eBay is UK I have already asked weather he has the H version which has the hook to hold door when open. Unfortunately he said he doesn’t have. Second link from picture doesn’t look like it has hook. But does advertise all part numbers??? Was hoping to find one closer to oz though. Thanks again
      Cheers

This is all that's left of the bottom right roller. Door wouldn't close so I took the thing off. Good thing we're on holiday... [emoji849]

You need too drill out the centre pin on this to take the size bolt/screw you are going to use.
My plan was to just use the nut that came with this but there’s not enough room for it. So that’s why I cut old roller pin down then tapped out for a counter sunk bolt/screw. Hope that makes sense. Good luck. [emoji1690][emoji1690][emoji1690]

Drilled it out , don’t remember what size . Depends on what size bolt/ screw your going to use. Or drill out the hole bolt , then make like a bushing sleeve that fits snug between your screw & the new bearing. If you use a counter sunk bolt you might not need a bushing/sleeve. ???

I meant to get the shank out of the new roller.

Yeah I put it in the vise & drilled it out
You should end up with something that resembles say like a roller blade or skateboard wheel
In my pics you can see I used a flat blade countersunk bolt that holds it straight against the old pin I cut down.

                        That's a good fix.
I noticed mine was playing up yesterday but am yet to inspect it to see what's going on.
