After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • 2.5 axe strange noise. Injectors?

Hey guys, new to the group. bought a t5 about 12months ago now as iv just started a new electrical business.

Iv recently noticed a grinding/Screeching/ slurping noise (Hard to explain haha) spaced about 1 second apart. Can only really hear it inside the van as we all know the axe 2.5 are a loud engine.
If you pick the revs up I do think it gets slightly quicker.
There’s also what I think is a small missfire at 950ish rpm.
Van seems to rev out fine imo, haven’t noticed any unusual smoke or lose in power.
My mechanic seems to think it may be an injector issue.
Also we couldn’t get the van to communicate with his snap on scan tool. Tried the Disconnected aftermarket headunit trick but still nothing.

Do the tandem pumps ever create a noise if they start to fail? When they fail do they mix oil into the fuel?
Is the cam issue exclusively the thumping noise from the intake?
Has anybody had this issue before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Located Southside Brisbane btw.

Yes, the camshafts wear out when incorrect engine oil is/was used, quite common fault.
Get the sample of your engine oil analysed to see if the iron particles are high.
Tell your mechanic to use the expert mode on his SnapOn scanner, or he could call the snapon help desk.
