  • The lights are on, but no ones home

Something funky has happened with my 2011 multivan. The central convenience unit has either given up the ghost or is playing silly buggers.

The bus has been in for unrelated work, and has returned twice now, with no hvac. The lights are on, but nothing comes out. The first time, they happened to recode it back to a similar van and it worked. I haven't touched the coding, nor have they and now it is doing the same, but the coding hasn't changed. Now my remote doesn't work. I have to lock/unlock using the key.

Any ideas? They are trying to source another unit, hut with the weather hitting some serious temps tomorrow... I need ac!!

Sounds like it’s the dealers problem and not yours, what are they offering in a way to overcome this problem?

Interestingly, if I squirt the windscreen wiper, the hvac works. Downside, was he bottle drains in 3 minutes and my rear wiper stopped working.

Does anyone have a central convenience unit log for a 2011 multivan? Ie long coding and what unit it is supposed to be?

You mentioned “in for unrelated work”, I assumed dealer was doing the unrelated work. Maybe take it back to where it was last worked on and ask them?

They are sorting it, but I needed the hvac to work today.. 45*c in Windsor today. Driving a multivan with no ac on a day like this?? Killed me!

But the fan works when the washers are active.

That's odd on the wipers given they should run forever pretty much, the water pump on the otherhand isn't best to run for long periods.

As for a log, I've got the 2010 T5.1 Multi I could pull a dump from if you still needed it.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

If you could. The shop just tried a different bcm and it's wiped all the codes so when it was plugged in, the fan worked, but as soon as he coded the other stuff in, the fan stopped...

But now the remote works. BUT NOT the fans.

I've sent you an email through the VWWC system with an old log which should have what you need.

                      Based on this:
Please be aware that this guide is now a little outdated however the basics are still the same today as they were back when this was originally published. An update is due soon. A Guide to Backing Up Your Vehicle using Ross-Tech VCDS When looking to make software based changes to anything...

The auto scan gives you all the long coding (which is what I have sent). If you need the full Adaptation Channel Backup or LIN / Slave Modules information (as listed in the above link) that is something I can do later when I'm home from work and have some more time to spare to extract the various sub components. I would assume you want these two:

                      08-Auto HVAC
                      09-Cent. Elect

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I’ve seen weird things happen with AC systems due to low pressure which can rise and fall with engine load, but electric fans???
