Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T5.1 CFCA Stall, Then Very Rough Idle

    Hi guys,

Currently researching my problem through these forums and such.

Long story short, about 20mins ago I started my Van, put it into reverse (DSG), while reversing it suddenly stalled. Then I tried starting it and the motor/starter? was whining badly. After a few goes, it finally cranked over but now has a horrible idle.
There was/are no warning lights, though I did get a low oil warning light 2 weeks ago where I topped it up and has since been fine in the 400 or so kms I've done since then...I am waiting for the oil to pool in the sump and I'll check again tonight.
Its on 111,000+kms and it's just had the timing belt kit done at 107,000 before an interstate trip from Melb to QLD.

Are we thinking it's the common excessive oil consumption issue? Or don't I use the van enough?

    Any other suggestions?

    Cheers Josh
Working...
