Amarok wheels & tyres suitability with transporter t5 ???

Hi Guys......

I have a 2008 T5 Transporter doublecab Motion running 225/65/16 tyres.

Am wondering on compatibility with Amarok wheels/tyres.

Would the Amarok 245/70R/16 wheels and tyres fit without rubbing and if so, also what would the speedo difference be between the 65 and 70 ??

These are the amarok 19s.. No scrubbing. 255 45 19 I think.

I run 255/55/18 no problem
225/65=146.25
245/65=159.25
245/70=171.5

Hi Guys got a set of 215 Amarok Alloys 6.5 x offset 51 PCD 120 ......................the original steelies wer 6.5 x 0ffset 52 PCD 120.

The alloys fit nicely on the rear but the front brake calipers touch slightly and the fitters tell me that the slight touching would skim off some of the alloy and would weaken the wheels.......so it would appear the Amarok alloy rims are not suitable for a T5. SFP.

Only partially correct. You need Amarok wheels larger than 16" (so 17" and up) to clear the callipers on the T5.1 400TDI and 350TSI Vans. 16" only fits the 340TDI

Reason is the 340TDI has smaller brakes than the 400TDI and the 350TSI.

Same applies to FWD v AWD on the earlier models. AWD had/has larger front brakes I believe.

I just wondered -- do you know if this applies to the T6 models as well?
ie. Can I fit the Amarok 16" rims on a T6 TDI340, or did the brakes get bigger between the T5 and T6 on that variant..?

Does that only apply to the 16" Amarok alloys or to the 16" steelies as well?

The 16" rims (steel or alloy) won't fit over the calipers of anything but the base models of the T5/T5.2/T6. You need 17" plus to fit.

I like the look of the T5 17” steel rims that my 4mo came with in 2005. They’re still available and well priced from the VW spare parts.

A question please..................any idea whether the Amarok 16" steelies fit on my 2008 T5 Doublecab motion. Reason I ask is they are wider and carry the 245/65/16 tyres?
