I’d like to fit upgraded rear tailgate struts so that when I carry 2 bikes it will stay up! Has anybody replaced their struts with heavier duty ones, if so how are they when bikes aren’t carried?

My only question is if the struts have sufficient force to keep a tailgate up with bikes loaded on top would it be easy to close the door compressing such struts?
I would have doubts the mounting points would hold it up , those ball socket things are not that substantial to hold much more weight than the tailgate . You have the racks and then the bikes to consider .
