Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD police are now enforcing the 50mm lift

I went through this on my Transporter T6 LWB , when i was looking at putting on slightly bigger tires after getting my 30mm Seikel lift installed.

But Due to ESC, it could only be one or the other, but not a combination

Hopefully someone sets up a testing station, for a robotic ESP/ESC calibration test.

    • No combination lift can be approved without the vehicle undergoing a robotic ESP/ESC calibration test.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, up here, when the fines start coming in, id imagine there will be a push to review the current rules.

As i really can't see any issue with a combination of tire and suspension up to 50mm than just a suspension lift of 50mm or a tire increase of the same amount.

The dual cab numpty lift brigade was like a cancer on the Gold Coast when I lived there last year, nice to see some action being taken.

Unfortunately it might be catching the handful who genuinely need/use it.

I work up in Geebung, in the industrial area up there, i see a lot of high lifted Utes 4-6 inches plus) around there, must be due to the potholes

Im not why people are claiming QLD just changed the rules, when i looked a my lift in late 2016 /early 2017 the rules for the 50mm not combined if your vehicle had ESC were already in place.

I believe there is a need for being able to lift your vehicle, for those who do need it,

not just wanting the look, i swear most of these lifted ARB steel covered lifted utes, look like they have never been of road

There should be a reasonable costing avenue to test it

I live on the Gold Coast and some of the 4x4 lifts are stupid 100 mil is nothing,
The trouble is when it rains all the rubbish off the road is thrown onto the vehicles behind ,Simply because they don;t have mudflaps to the centre of their wheels .
I hope they have Blue slips or a lot of finds will be handed out

Without offending any VW fans on the Gold Coast I am not surprised by Dutch77's comment , the Goldie is home to the "Mines better than yours brigrade " the lifestyle of the coast seems to drive people with overinflated egoes to outdo the next guy .
