Email Notifications Failing (mostly Telstra)
Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:
From some research you can turn it off permanently through VCDS the guys on the Golf Forum are doing it , so I would imagine that all VW models with the feature are the same .
Well if the system is part of the VW range then I would imagine codes can be changed as they have with the Golfs and others , lets face it Stop Start is only a new thing so I would imagine the tech boffins would use a generic sort of code [ insert here ] "Emission Cheat Code fitted to so far almost most model diesel equipped vehicles by VW . Hmmm .
An English gentleman on a rival forum site reckons (on the Golf R at least) that you can simply disconnect the small connector (grey clip/red wire/purple wire with white trace) at the battery -ve terminal to disable stop/start and there are no problems created by doing that. He says the other way is by changing a code but I would have little use for the do-dad to do it that way. Besides, my car is still under w'tee and as I may have accidentally caused a fault that they kindly cleared with no charge, I'm not game to try the disconnect unless a few of us Aussies say it is ok. Around the time I may have caused the fault I did disconnect both battery terminals and the connector is attached to the clamp of the -ve. I did not detach the connector.
Mine's an August 2018 build btw.
p.s. many people know, but I learned the hard way that next time you drive after a battery disconnect a heap of error messages come up in the instruments, BUT if you just keep driving they auto correct.
cars (chronological) Morris850, Morris Mini DeLuxe, Cooper S, Mazda 1500SS, hard times so some old Holden, old Falcon Ute, better times so second hand Lotus Elan +2 (6 weeks, hopelessly unreliable) Chrysler Valiant Charger 770, second hand Datsun 260Z + 2 auto, Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo, Nissan 200SX turbo auto for 20 years(wonderful car burning ZERO oil after 200,000km & no problems when sold.. should have kept it), Toyota GTS 86 auto, now Golf R Mk 7.5 DSG built Aug2018, white.
Silly thought here if you can get to the back of the button and take a reading from the wires , there would have to be a signal coming into the switch and then one leaving once pushed . What if those two wires are bridged to simulate the button being pushed , then each time after starting the circuit would be made then permanent ????
SUCCESS!!
Today I was able to disable the infuriating stop/start function using recently purchased OBDeleven dongle & app. I loaded the app onto my phone (pixel 2) & was not able to do it, & from what I read elsewhere, the function is not compatible with the ECU in the Transporter. I tried a few times with no luck - got a message stating 'function not available' so I thought I would have to get my independent vw mechanic to have a go with VAG-COM or similar.
Anyway, today I thought I would take a couple of screenshots with my Galaxy Tab so I could make some enquiries, so downloaded the app onto the tablet & it worked 1st time!
01 Engine -> Adaptation -> Activation of stop-start function -> not active -> OK
Works perfectly! Now when I come to a stop, in the MFD where the gear indicator is, next to the time, I get the A in a circle with a line through it & the engine keeps idling. Stoked !!
Good outcome now at least if the battery dies you wont need to replace it with one of those $500 plus ones they recommend for stop start systems . My sons Golf GTI battery failed and I replaced it with a compatible CCA battery and no problems . The stop start is still there but we just turn it off when starting .
A bit premature with yesterday's call... Well, it worked fine yesterday but today the system reverted back to 'Active'. So deactivating it wasn't permanent. Had another go at it this evening & all was good again. I shut the car down manually & removed the key from ignition for a few minutes, started it back up & the system was still inactive so figers crossed it will work this time... Tomorrow will tell...
Nope... I have a feeling the only reason I thought it worked initially was because maybe the engine hadn't warmed up sufficiently yet to allow stop/start to become active. Once warm, although I get the 'not active' symbol in the MFD, the engine continues to shut down when i stop. Happens whether in D, S, or even if I shift to N before coming to a stop!
Back to the drawing board... Miro, what software do you use to do this?

My T6 just had its first service yesterday (at an independent workshop, Award European in Boambee). Asked the guys there to have a go at disabling stop/start as it was mainly unsuccessful doing it with the OBDEleven dongle & app. I say mainly unsuccessful as I disabled it, but it would only work as I intended (deactivated) about 10% of the time. And it would still cut the motor when it was cold, which it's not supposed to do.
Anyway, they did it at the workshop with VCDS with 100% success! Tech said he changed the parameter for the coolant temp for stop/start to become active to an unachievable value.
