Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Anyone fitted this swivel base to T5 front passenger seat?

    Hi all,

looking to make front passenger seat a captains seat which can swivel round to face the interior on my 2011 T5. Does anyone have any experience of fitting and using these:

    Swivel Seat Base (Passenger) VW T5 2003–2015 VW T6 - 3348001, 60127P, - :: Just Kampers Australia

if you have, three questions I have are:

    are they easy to fit?
are they easy to use once fitted?
do I need to get a new roadworthy / safety cert once fitted (I’m in QLD)?

any input or alternative options welcome!

    thanks

Google VanEssa Australia and have a look at their gear.
Syncro91 is the big wig of Van Essa Australia and will hopefully drop into this conversation and give you some advice.

The last brochure he sent me had a swivel base for the T5/T6 and it was $395 so could be a bit cheaper?

Sunny will no doubt be able to offer some solid advice about the legalities of it all to.

I'm stalking this convo and following it silently....

Yeah in QLD you will need a Blue Plate, give Auto Extras in Herston a call, they fit them a fair bit.

I had them do my driver and passenger seat last year.

Thanks Kiwi and yes Bryn is right it will require a modification plate , I see that the one from Just Kampers has TUV approval but I would urge you to check for compliance with ADR rules as some TUV stuff may not pass our rules . Auto Extra's are one of the best around Brissy , I have used them for glass etc for the last 12 years or so .

          Thanks all,

I really appreciate the tips and pointers. I’ll give auto extras a call in the morning!

I’ll post back here on what I end up doing and how it pans out etc.

          cheers
