Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • exhaust flexi neck .

Started to hear a strange noise the other day from the engine bay of my faithfull 2.0 petrol T5 work van , as the days went on it got more disconcerting and started to hope it wasn't something terminal . Finally after looking in the engine bay a few times decided a more thorough investigation was needed as I could not see anything out of order . Ran the van up on my ramps and crawled underneath , still could not see anything obvious but figured at least it was some sort of exhaust noise . Finally wearing some leather gloves I grabbed the cat converter and gave it a yank , the noise changed and then I realised the flexi neck had or was disintegrating . So rang VW for new part $600 ouch ! then rang my previous cat converter specialist magician and he fitted dual flexi necks for $240 all up . Got to love guys who go the extra mile when OEM parts are stupidly priced .
