  • Coilovers t28 t30 t32 ???

    Hi guys,

I have a t5.1 biturbo 4motion 132kw I am trying to work out what coilover kit to get for it and just before ordering I've noticed the T numbers?

How have you guys gone with working out what van yours is?

Thanks in advance for any advice,

    T5 - joe

The UK uses those codes for some reason. Not 100% sure what they refer to.

Ideally you need to match it up to engine and driveline offerings, due to weight differences.

It's hard to tell there are so many variables and between all there is like 200kg per model

The set up is adjustable but I started at 50ml so it would have settled slighty since then .

The UK market gets more GVM options than us, we get the T30 (3000kg GVM as standard) except for the Ambos and also Trakka (they are able to get the T32 3200kg GVM model for heavier payload, i had to get permission from VW Australia to authorised my order)

So the T28 is the 2800kg GVM model, T30 is the 3000kg GVM and T32 is the 3200 kg GVM.

The T32 has a different front strut mount as far as i'm aware, i was limited with my T32, but as i wanted a Lift, i was covered with Seikel Suspension.

But we don't use the T28/T30, etc codes here. Anywhere. At all. Not even VW uses them.

No we don't generally those codes here, as technically only one GVM is sold to the public here in Australia.

But in the UK, and quite a few other countries use the term T28,T30 and T32 as a reference to the various GVM models, there is even a T26 that can be ordered in.

It may be that the OP has been looking at Suspension that is overseas, or on ebay AU, as they tend to put up which T code will fit, which can be confusing if you haven't come across it, but it simplifies it in a market with different GVM options.

The key thing for those is not buying a T32 kit and fitting it on a T28 or T30 due to the different strut mounting on the lower part of the strut.

But for most of Aus transporter owners, the only model they will have is a 3000 kg GVM, unless its an ex ambo or and Trakka with the uprated suspension for legal reasons.
