Losing oil and coolant (although radiator stop leak has cured that) I get a puff of smoke on take off but was using roughly a litre every 1000kms

I can't find any info on engine swaps for a cfca. Sgs spares says its unique and nothing will bolt in its place. Can anyone confirm this?

Passat Alltrack motor would be the same base engine, if not very similar.

What about swapping the engine and box out. Is the box connected to the rear Diff or does the drive go through a separate transfer case (???) type of setup?

Did you try JB Weld PermOseal? Seals a lot of coolant leaks almost immediately.

Flush the cooling system, using good radiator flush, refill with the fresh coolant and put 1 PermOseal in the reservoir once warmed up and run engine for 30 minutes after thermostat opened.

Just tried looking into this now.

Part numbers are all over the place, with regards to what is compatible, and what isn't. Part numbers for long motors are all different between Amarok, T5GP, and Passat, even though in theory they're all pretty much the same generation TDICR motor.

Wreckers over here are taking the pi$$ on prices. Can get a rebuilt one out of the UK, for circa $5K. A Used one here, is twice that amount, and you'd still have to pay someone to swap the whole lot over.

Yeah......you can see why the Pommies get a shock when they come over and buy one to go around Australia and are used to the costs over there.
