The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • T5 oil Vs T5.1 oil

    Hey all
Previously had a 2006 transporter which I recently sold - I had purchased the correct oil Penrith enviro plus 5w40 for it - however since then I jumped on a buy of a 2010 transporter and have since sold the 2006

About to replace oils - called up TLC and they told me the T5.1 take 5w30 - and the thickness is the overall difference.

Is it worth getting the 5w30 or does it not make a huge difference between 5w40? The guy said he wasn’t sure and couldn’t recommend ( fair enough) but thought it wouldn’t make a difference.

    Any help greatly appreciated

Bang on, the newer models want the newer spec oil.

Penrite Enviro Plus 5w40 meets the older 502/505 standard for VW which is why it was fine for your old van.
      Penrite Oil | ENVIRO+ 5W-40 (FULL SYN.)

For the T5.1, Penrite Enviro Plus 5w30 meets the new 504/507 standard:
      Penrite Oil | ENVIRO+ 5W-30 (FULL SYN.)

Here is not a bad place to start if you want different options:
Why you need to use 504/507 oils in FSI/TSI/TDI engines!

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
