Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Crafter 2019 reversing camera question

    G'day all,

Is there an easy way for me to add a switch in the cab that tricks the system into thinking I'm reversing so I can see the rear camera view while driving forwards?

I've had a look behind the display, and in the gear shifter and there's nothing that's obvious to me.

I'd rather use the existing system than adding an aftermarket camera.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I’m not sure if it’s possible, but I’d use additional camera/rear view mirror combo for that.

Yep, I think I'd be starting from scratch to avoid muckin around with an already complicated electrical system.

Hello The reversing camera in your vehicle receives reversing + 12V electricity and triggers the reversing screen on your vehicle, and the reversing screen turns on in your multimedia, reversing the reversing lights on your back, so that you can watch the back of your vehicle on the road, you can cancel it from the reversing lights + 12V from your back of your car. Except for + 12V, you should pull the power cable and connect a new AC shut-off switch to your vehicle. A competent electrical specialist can do this
