Hmmmm.. I'm undecided on that with the red.

I'm worried that it would be too much red and drown it out.

Maybe someone could Photoshop a pic for me?? (Pretty please).

When i do the back and wash it all up i'll take some decent pics and post them. And hopefully one of you photoshop whizz's can go nuts on it for me.

Haha, nice one there. Yeah i can't wait to finish it and then take it through the twisties just out of town tomorrow.

Driving to the Bottle-o tonight it was a completely different car. Granted the back was still in the air and it messed up the weight distribution (more towards the front, I got in and i said "hey, i feel like i'm gonna go through the windscreen!), but it was really good. The front had SOOOOO much better shock control. When you hit a bump, it was a little firmer, but it hit the bump and that was it, no seesawing or wobbling around. Much more reactive steering input too.

Anyway, full writeup tomorrow once the rear is done.

Can't justify a chip... (its just a caddy!) It goes well enough at the moment for me. Powerrrrrr is what i'm building the mk1 for.

Wheels though at a later date. When i wear these tyres out.

And maybe a derv dr external wastegate..

                          • Ok, finished the caddy off today.. (And then washed it..)

Pretty straight forward swap for the rear, just did one side at a time and used the wallaby jack to support the axle.

                            Here's some pics..

Here's the setup. Simply puts the axle ohttp://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=187017n top of the springs and then you put another rear shackle set on that has 4 sets of holes for height adjustment.

                            Dropped off the hoist..

And here it is after being washed, at home.

                            Back at the workshop.

                            Official tuff sticker..

And here it is after i decided that i was going to lift the back up one hole (10mm) from lowest..

Dad made me do it! Although i think he is right. Give it a little more rake. Plus the mudflaps were scraping going out of the driveway most places. (Still does, but not as bad.. )

                            Now for a suspension analysis.

                            Ride
It's pretty freaking good. Just a little firmer than standard on the bumps, but sooo much better. The car doesn't wobble around at all like it did a bit standard.

                            Handling
Fantastic. Initial turn in is light years better. You point the wheel and immediately it goes there. Previously, on entry, the car would tip too much weight onto the loaded front tyre, causing it to tuck under (due to it being a 195/65 tyre). With the new suspension, the car rolls onto the front just enough to give the outside front some bite, and it holds on.

Midcorner the car is very well balanced, with just a touch of understeer if too much throttle is applied.
Once you're in the corner, the car's midpoint can quite easily be adjusted by the amount of throttle input. Lift off and the nose tucks in and lets you still know the back is there, apply some more throttle and the front will creep off the apex a little. Very settled, plenty of feel (Vast improvement) and very easy to drive.

Corner exit has been vastly improved. Previously (if you tried to get hard on the throttle) the car would get massive power understeer and the inside front would start to let go quite badly before the traction control cut in and dropped the power output to control it. Now, the car doesn't transfer the weight of the front on throttle, so you can get on it agressively if you wish, and hard.
The car is almost neutral on the exit now. You can actually get a little bit of oversteer (very controllable) given the right corner characteristics.

                            So, all in all...

                            It was TOTALLY WORTH IT!

I'm very happy with this suspension and would definately recommend this kit to anyone.
