Hi all,
We have a 2004 Caddy (300k) that had a warning light come up, the dealer said EGR and replaced it ($1,000+!!) and the warning light remained.
They then bypassed a wire to it as well, concluding it was a wiring fault. The warning light remains.
They maintain the valve would need to be replaced sooner or later anyway so it we are still out of pocket.
They have also pointed out that the insulation on the (engine bay) wiring is crumbling and that we should 'get rid of' the vehicle!
Should a ten year old wiring loom be deteriorating in this way?
Is this a known issue?
Is VW responsible?
Do VW dealers often 'bag' their own products in this way?
In my experience the wiring loom was there for the life of the vehicle, or is it a service part nowadays?
Is there anything in the service schedule that says 'check wiring loom'?
