Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Reversing sensors turned off

    G'day,

I have a MY11 Caddy Maxi Life, and just got to work and discovered the reversing sensors appear to have been inadvertently turned off. All was OK when I left. It appears I have bumped a switch off and somehow toggled the system off. I do not have the manual with me to look for the toggle.

All else is good. The indicators, reversing lights and the like are working and a check with my OBD reader is not showing any faults.

It is almost as though the system thinks I have a trailer only I don't have a trailer or tow bar. The only thing I can think is that while turning my steering wheel as I got on the road, I might have inadvertently bumped a steering wheel switch thad toggles it off.

    Any pointers appreciated.

    Thanks.

Assuming you have a reverse camera fitted, when you put the car in reverse and the camera image appears on the screen, there is a button (looks like a speaker) that will temporarily turn off the reverse sensor sound. You may have accidentally pressed this button this morning.

Next time you drive the car, it should default to the sound being back on again.

Oops. I thought I'd covered all options. No, I do not have a reverse camera fitted. Sorry. Also, the head unit is an Audiosources purchased via a group buy here.

The reverse guidance overlay comes up, but not every time.

The sensor screen comes up, but not always.

Is there some way through the setup where this can be reset?

About the only alternative would be to place something so that it triggers AND shows the appropriate screen, but that is a bit hit and miss.

The problem is that once the navigation map comes up, it takes over and all bets are off, hiding the required screens.

I wonder if popping the microSD card with the mapping out reveals what I need?

I'll need to find some time.

      Thanks.
