Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Front Assist Activating For NO Reason - BRAKE!!!

I was driving about 60kph on a straight road with no cars in front of me on a clear day about 4pm (sun shining).

The Front Assist activated and the system applied the breaks.

It was scary and lucky there was no tail gating cars or it would of resulted in a collision.

Has anyone else experienced this with their VW Polo?

My dad had many similar issues with his.
Many trips back to dealer, '...nothing wrong, but we'll reset/align sensors.'
I ran the VCDS over it each time and no faults show.
I think in the end, we reset the sensitivity to lowest setting as he didn't want it turned off, and left it.

Pretty sure it hasn't happened in a while.

We have a MY21 GTI, and it does the same thing on the same spot on a road here in Camberwell. The road goes down a hill, then flattens out for a level crossing, and the system sees it as an obstacle and slams on the anchors. Missus' car but it first happened to me and I got all sorts of hassle for it (way I was driving etc) and then it happened to her a few times (but not every time and usually only when there are no cars in front of you so the system is seeing further ahead).

Just one of the quirks I guess...
