  • QLD Insurance

Hey guys. I am moving over to Townsville in a few months, and I was curious to know who you guys recommend as insurers in QLD.
I am also looking at having the Contents Insurance for my house through the same insurer.
    Cheers.

If I'm not mistaken, AAMI and RACQ insure Pogo's for around $750ish. Once again, confirm with your insurance agency and request a copy of the PDS.

I would avoid AAMI mate - ill just say that in my experience of seeing repairs being made by them, the work left a lot to be desired....

Totally irrelevant. That all depends on the area you live in. The same guy doesn't go round to every state repairing cars for AAMI.

I'm with Just Car - 22 yrs old, rating 1, chip, downpipe, TIP, engine mount. They know about my mods and I'm paying $820 or $840 a year from memory with standard excess.

I was looking at insurance for the new born ( candy ass white polo gti 2008 ) which should arrive in Aug. or hopefully late July, and the internet quote for me as the only driver and i'm over 30 was through Allianz for $477 .....

I'm a big fan of Marios' fish / chips / pizza and insurance...... LOL

well there you have it.. maybe for $477 it's not preferred repaired.. no free windscreen ... no hire car ....

              Suncorp Insurance

              Blitzen,

Try SUNCORP online, they have an online quote section so you can see what it costs with them. Takes about 5 minutes with you answering questions / chosing options etc.

They are a QLD based insurer and the only one I know of that has an assessing centre in town (deliver to them and they do everything - you just pick up when ready, lifetime warranty on repairs). ALL the others are only here to collect your premium, and all claims are done over the phone down south with you doing all the legwork like getting your own quotes etc.

I am not a good guide on price as I get all the discounts (over 55, rating 1 for life, 6+ policies, no low age driver etc) but they do offer a discount for 4 policies so you go close when you register here (CTP, car and contents). Find one more policy for a boat, jewellery etc and you qualify.

Cheers from the other Townsville dubber.

I'm going to do a bit of ringing around tomorrow. Suncorp underwrites TIO(who I am insured with in the NT), so I will be looking at them, plus my best mates wife is a claims assessor with them. I am rating one for life, 27, never lost my licence(but do have quite a long ticket sheet, although this has never been a problem with getting insurance in the past).
I am only paying $520 per year full comp up here in the NT with TIO, but I am not expecting to get anywhere near that when I move!!

Just an update... got my renewal the other day and noticed RACQ had infact upped my premium by $7 to $994 per year... This prompted me to do some ringing around for a better deal...

The outcome... $622 with NRMA which includes agreed value ($22,000 - since my car will now be more than 24 months old), hire car in event of theft, choice of repairer and glass protection cover... This represented a 35% saving!!!

Should also note that RACQ did not include any of the above extras and would only offer market valve cover in the event of a total loss...

                            +1 for NoRMA.

$580 fully comp for market value with 65% NCB and choice of repairer. This premium includes CTP and I also have the windscreen option, too.

I also get a 12.5% multi-policy discount so it all adds up.
