  • Better fuel economy after APR'ed?

I was wondering are you guys(apr tuned, or other chips) getting better fuel economy, like we've been told we should? Cause i find it hasn't made much of a difference(sometimes much worse when i let my beast open up).
The best i've managed to get on one full tank is 510km(the worst about 390km).
sigpicAPR'ed V2, 18", BMC CDA. 3" Custom Downpipe, Forge TIP/Diverter Valve. Coming soon: getting my FMIC fitted, KO4!!

you will get better economy if you drive at the same speed as you did before flash - less throttle same for same power/speed.... but of course thats not why you chip it

Wow, I'd love to get 510km out of a tank. The best I've got would be just over 400km.

Mine is usually 11L/100km. It used to be around 11.8L/100km before chip, but not as much fun either

I second that I normally only get 300km when the fuel light comes on.

My average fuel consumtion was about 12L/100km before the chip but it's about 11.5L/100km now.

I do drive a bit to much with my right foot though

You guys have a heavy right foot. My average (according to the car) is around 8L/100kms. I wouldnt say I drive like a grandma/Sunday driver but I dont go full throttle off every takeoff either.

Just to clarify I do have a GTI with APR chip.

I was on the highway today, average over the trip was 7.2L using cruise control in 5th at 100-110.

How can you average 8L/100km, do you never drive in traffic?

I dont usually drive in bumper to bumper traffic but I do live in Sydney and unless you drive between about 7pm and 5 am you will get traffic. I only use the freeways maybe once a week.

So you could say I drive my car in "normal" conditions. I dont understand how you guys avarage over 10L/100kms.

I'm getting around 8.5 to 9 litres in my Polo GTI standard non-chipped. Got ~7.2 on the highway a few weeks ago on a run of around 500k. 100-120kmh

That's in traffic most of the time with mine. I tend not to fang it too much in traffic, in fact I try to keep it economical when there's no room to fang it. But when there is

I do around 70kms a day. Half of that is usually 60-80km/h with the occasional traffic light. The rest is bumper to bumper with almost every traffic light a few times (thanks QLD government).

For the first half of the journey it's around 12.5L/100k and that comes down to low 11s by the time I get home. (Or the 8.5-9.5 until I hit the traffic on the way to work).
