    Hey all

long time reader first time poster be gentle

purchased a polo gti 9n3 2008 model just for a run around and to have fun in, its got 70k on the clock kept in great shape and has all services records stamped

pretty zippy in stock form but as my daily drive is a golf R needed wanted to make it just go that little bit quicker, so got APR stage 1 a week ago

I won't mention the Apr dealer, anyway stage 1 was installed, I was a little surprised no other maps were installed 93 95 or 98, it seems only one map was loaded, great all done took car for a drive and the usual thing wow nice the way is should have been from factory.

highway pulls were effortlessly in 5th 2nd and 3rd pulled great.

2 days into the Apr map all of a sudden the car feels flat and my Apr pull has disappeared, everything else is stock.
the engine sounds different too from the exhaust as well not as revy and healthy seems very flat and louder then before.

no error codes are showing in vdsc , also I have noticed in the mornings when I start it from cold the revs are no longer going above 1000 for the warm up, they sit exactly on 1000 for a few secs then drop to the normal 600 700 range, before the tune the cold morning starts saw it around 1300 from memory.

basically the car feels gutless and flat the strong Apr pull has gone.

any suggestions please! would could it be has something given way dv, coils, plugs?

I have a new dv coming from the Audi tt 710n version, also r8 coils and plugs, but won't be here till Monday, just wanted peoples thoughts on the matter, am I going crazy or is this normal

    thank you

Ooh, intrigue! As a fellow Polo owner trying tunes I'm interested to hear about this.

I have an ecu loaded with custom code phase 1.

        Op, you should log 002 031 099, 003 020 022, 003 115 118. 3rd gear 1500 revs upwards. R8 coil packs are a waste of money unless you were desperate for red.

              just a little update
installed R8 coils today n249 plate fitted perfect on top no problems, just had to go to Bunnings and get 2 extra 5mm long m6 bolts, car sounds and runs heaps better, but now I seem to be getting random boost cutouts or fuel cuts not sure which it is.

will change dv and n75 monday

As a matter of fact, Yes it did.

I still want to know why my cold starts are not revving to the original 1500rpm instead now reaching 1000 1100 rpm before settling in at 700

That's a dead give away for a bad coil pack or plug.

Now you just need to get rid of the APR tune and go with custom code

I personally feel the tune is excellent, guess the internals need updating to cope

Today when the car was scanned I'm getting MAF SENSOR G70 ERROR
P0103 35-10 Signal too high intermittent error, the only thing I've change was put in a drop in K & N filter.

Could someone please tell me what this actually means. faulty MAF?

                          thx

You don't need rods on the std turbo. Are you sure the airbox is back together properly. You should read up on data logging and log the maf output.

was the k & n filter covered in the filter oil when you put it in? That is a known way on many makes to pollute your MAF. It couldn't hurt to clean the MAF sensor and change back to a normal filter to test. To clean it, go to the chemist and get some 100% isopropyl alcohol. Remove the Maf sensor (its a star key but you can get onto the screw heads with multi grips and then just replace them with normal self tapers). Stick the sensor in a clean ziplock with the alcohol in it and shake. That'll clean it and rule out sensor fouling. Also spray your connector terminals.
