Noobie just saying hi and a couple of Q's reguarding GTI.
IMO blue is the worst colour because of all the black and red on the car. It was the only 1 I had no thought about when buying mine.
Also, I didn't say 17s just for looks, I was keeping up with Eddy with his mountains of suspension work and extra engine work at the track day. Only thing I had better was 40 profile tyres.

yeah i totally agree with you on that one. no offence to jasn and eddy, but i think there is a reason why the blue is so 'rare', because no one wants to buy it. i seriously think VW should have just stuck with four colours, black, silver, white, and red.....these are about the only colours that really match the black and red parts over the car. if they were going to do a blue, it should have been a lot lighter blue.
IMHO, a colour which would look really hot would be a metallic gunmetal grey.....if only
18's are possible in 215/35/18 but not worth the trouble - i had 3 punctures in 6 months and went back down to 17's on 205/40/17 - so you need prisitne roads for the 18's to work decently
True, on the way back from Morgan Park (Warwick, 2hr drive for me) on Sunday after the track day, average consumption varied between 6.4&6.5l/100km with cruise set to 118km/h.
This morning on the way in to work averaged 8.6l/100km, the traffic was light though at 6:30am, but normal morning runs return around 9. Not racing anywhere, but using a bit of power every now and then to gain a gap or merge in front ...
Did use 29.6l/100km during the day on the track at Warwick though .......
WTF, I would love to see those figures. I drive to work in the city every day and average 12-13L/100km.
for highway driving it generally sits at around 7.5L/100km though.

I totally agree with you there Polo GTI. a polo in the R32 blue would look sweet (minus the red on the grill of course) but I still love my black one.

A lot depends on the route you drive to work. My work takes me all around Sydney, and driving the same distance in opposite directions or taking a different route to the same location can make a big difference to the fuel economy. In peak hour, I have achieved as low as 7.5 and as high as 13 depending on traffic, lights, and the amount of stop-start driving I do.
Driving into the city in peak hour I average 9-10L per 100km.
For me, other than in extremely bad traffic, I get the worst fuel economy when traffic is good but I cop every red light. Obviously the best is when I am on motorways etc.
Air Con makes a massive difference too.

I live in St Kilda and drive in peak hour traffic every day into the city which is only about 7-8km each way. Doing such short trips probably doesn't help either. I also have to drive along Flinders street which is a "car park" 24/7
Was just meaning that my wallet would like to be able to get 9L/100km in peak hour though
Have to say yesterday on the way home got caught in terrible traffic and at every light and saw 10.4l/100km.
I reckon the secret normally is 1.) dont carry a lot of extra weight ie passengers, 2.) dont use the aircon and 3.) keep it smooth, ie dont jump on the throttle at every oppertunity. (thats the hardest part for me )
