Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

And just so you know sov, im not one of those idiots that go out and do mods that are "dangerous". I have reasearched alot and ill be the only one driving and i have driven a few cars before that brakes need warming up before proper pad feel so i think i can cope. but thanks for your concern.

          off the ebc site

Fair call Dave, I think i read it differently then you ment. SOrry for overreacting.

I had initial doubts about yellow but when i read that article on the mk4 r32 and also talked to ebc, (as soon as i mentioned i occasionally track my car they said yellow, i then enquired and said that my wife will be driving it and i didnt want to have to warm them up. They said yellow will be fine.) So thats why i chose them. also read quite a few reviews on them and nearly everyone said that they are awesome for both street and track. So ill have some feed back soon as well. and like i said worst comes to worst ill get greens for street and use yellow for track.

yeah yeah sure. ...what about your new neon-yellow rear brakelight that lights up with the words 'forge motorsport'? surely it's all part of the new corporate colour

i think the key words here are 'a little while back'. shane did mention that this formula is new.

either way, whether this is the new or old formula, it's pretty clear that redstuff (in comparison) is a pretty rubbish all-rounder.

Actually, I'd say quite the reverse, and that's my experience, too. Greens are quite disappointing, though. Overall, as a performance pad, I am very pleased with the Ferodo 2500s...but they're expensive

Ferodo's are good on the Evo's Brembos for getting strange looks from pedestrians as you "screeeeetch" to a halt in the city.

I have had no favourable track experiences with EBC pads.

LOL what a rubbish comment! I use EBC RedStuff on the VR with slotted rotors and I have not had any problems whats so ever, brake well, no brake dust, no squealing!

In regards to Green v Red V Yellow v Fedoro...

I am looking for alittle better bite near the top of the pedal and some more stopping power... but little (verrrrrry little) track use...

Still Red over Green with that in mind??

Sorry mate i have to disagree, Greenstuff do a fantastic job at what there ment to do. And thats be better then stock. I also have driven a polo with these and it was much better then my stock polo brakes. Comparing Greens and 2500's is like chalk and cheese as 2500 are for track use like my yellows and greens arent. PLus there around half the price.

T-Go personally id go greenstuff, wont break the bank and feel good. (waits for timbos response.) id also put new fluid in.

Now boys this isnt a discussion on which brakes are better, its about the mods ive listed in the op. If you want to start a new thread feel free. but please keep the thread on topic.
