The japanese press release I found only mentioned the kit, the wheels and the fact there is 200 of them - 50 red and 150 black. Lol.

Not got BBU engine, small brakes. I am thinking there's a down spec car for Japan or its a normal GTI with a body kit.

I actually found the VW press release for the Japanese cup edition. It doesn't mention anything about bigger brakes or more hp like the European press release. So it is a genuine Japanese market cup edition (has the serial on the steering wheel).

Just sucks to find out now that the Japanese cup edition is different from the European one!

Also the Japanese cup edition is 5 door only whereas the European is 3 door only

You're in Aus aren't you? I was considering an ecu flash from torque performance here in NZ. its like $1.2k here, cheaper than APR and they actually chuck the thing on a dyno to make sure everything is all g.

$799 AUD for Phase 1.

The tunes are on lots of Polo's here. The worst you can expect is a blown coilpack or bad DV really.

What did the cup edition come out with different to the gti? Cosmetics only or more power also? The body kit alone looks great

It's funny how the Japanese market got ripped off on the power etc. Maybe it was payback for not sharing the some of their cool homegrown jdm stuff. Like i remember we had a ~160hp Integra badged as a type r in NZ...it was nothing like as mental as the proper jdm one.
