  • BoV for polo gti?

    Hey guys,
    Just a quick question....
What kind of BoV suits the polo gti? and is it difficult to add it on?
    Any help will be appreciated

I've got the Forge one ... not a difficult add-on at all. I'll put a pic up tomorrow (car / garage is all locked up atm).

I just installed a Forge Duel Port BOV. Took about 5 min to fit. Doesn't sound too bad either. Part Number is FMDVSPLTR.
      Check it out here:
FMDVSPLTR - We are dedicated in applying our wealth of knowledge and technical expertise, gained through years of research and development, to create products that deliver the highest level of quality.

      With Engine Cover on:

      With Engine Cover off:

Looking from the passenger side to the drivers side:

All you need to fit it are: A pair of multi grips to loosen the clamps holding the BOV onto the Turbo Intake Pipe and the line from the compressor side of the turbo
A pair of side cutters to remove the clamp off the vacuum line on top of the previous Diverter Valve.
A zip tie to clamp down the vacuum line onto the new Diverter/Blow Off Valve.
Ian at Rennenhaus can help you getting this part...Costs about $230 to your door. http://www.rennenhaus.com.au/

Or you can have a look at the Turbo Smart Sports Kompact BOV. I was quoted $320 through Auto Bahn. This BOV fits the same as the above instructions. Be sure to get the 25mm openings on that model, as these are the size of the openings on the pipe work in the Polo GTI.
      Check that out here:

      Hope this helps you mate.

PS: I went for the Forge one as it was cheaper, but is also garentee'd not to throw up any ECU codes from the MAF Sensor too.

i have the Turbosmart Kompact Series Dual Port BOV. i had to get it ordered in from Autobarn and cost me about $330. it took me 10 mins to install and i've never put one on before. whatever you do, make sure you only get a full plumbback or dual port....NOT A FULL ATMOSPHERE !!

i did that... and yes it was cheaper.....but then add shipping, and the time you have to wait....it works out only marginally cheaper and a lot longer delivery. i am an impulse buyer so i could not wait for 2 weeks for something to arrive....i would get sick of it and not want it any more. autobarn guaranteed me an overnight delivery so i was more than happy to pay the extra price.

the cheapest i could find the BOV on the internet was $279 plus $40 P&H.....$11 is not really worth it for the wait. the RRP on mine is $319 but i had to pay $11 postage from brisbane.

Modyourcar do price match... so i got mine around $260ish.

              $40 P&H and a 2 week wait? That's highway robbery!

well yeah, they said a 1-2 weeks delivery, and said that they would charge me $40 P&H for the size and weight of the package. when i ended up getting it from autobarn, i soon found out it comes in a small box and it quite light.....not happy. i'm glad i didn't opt for the internet price, i would have been so angry at a $40 P&H for a BOV. maybe because they are based down your way that the P&H is cheaper and it gets delivered quicker. i would guarantee they don't express post interstate... profit margins are a wonderful thing

polo use the same 1.8T engine...

                          both use MAF sensor right?

And i assume that the ECU is pretty similar....

Correct me if i m wrong...

So, if it is ok with your car, it should be ok for mine...

Many ppl suggested that atmo bov will make the ECU crazy and have engine check light...

On top of those problems, did you also know that they make bogan-like sound?

I like the Bogan sound...And I have never had any ECU problems with my car. Just for other peoples information, the Forge BOV vents 70%to intake, and 30%to atmosphere, and was specifically designed for VAG engines so it WOULD NOT interupt the ECU(I stayed up till 2am on a school night to ring Forge in England and triple check this info). I have had the Forge BOV on my car for 4 months, and it works a treat.
