Firstly a shout out Gav he got me out of trouble recently with my ABS and saved me $$$

so OP where did you end up getting timing belt kit from? I have been quoted $850 for supply and fit timing belt and water pump which I thought was not too bad but was told if I can supply the parts they will just do the fitting..

Given that the kits seem to go for around $3-$400 I guess I could end up saving a couple of hundred here..

But I don't really know the best place to buy and brand? What is the original one a Bosch? I don't want to skimp here on brand and would rather get the recommended one..

    I am a mk9 Polo GTI 2007 model. Ta

I have exhausted the parts from Imparts. HSY can do them but it's $100 extra.

To be fair I don't think $800 is massively overpriced including parts. Don't think Ultratune are the boys for this job though......

Parts made sourced through Germany is about the only criteria I work from.

It would be worth your while waiting for Jimmy to have the time.

I had my red one done by Prestige and Performance in Brissy. Was $700 for the water pump and timing belt installed including GST with 12 months or 15k kms warranty on all parts and labour.

Just a thought if you don't want to it yourself or can't find anywhere cheaper

That is cheap. Sounds like a no brainer. I've lined up a mate to help me with mine, with the parts Gavin sourced Fingers crossed we do it before it's too late, especially now the engine wants to leap out of the bonnet every time I masage the loud pedal...thanks again to Gavin!

Got the cambelt kit installed today with a mate. Not too much drama, but I was certainly happier to have his experience on hand. Did the thermostat at the same time, which has seen big improvement in the warmup time...the old one was definitely snagged. Also did the lower engine mount which was a good move...something I should have done months ago.
