How do you get TireRack site cart to qoute on Australian shipping?

You need to contact a tirerack sales rep by email and get a quote. You will find a big list of them on tirerack. Tell them what you are after and they will confirm tyre/wheel price and tell you how much shipping will be.

If you do a search on tirerack for Australian shipping plenty comes up.

Price $170 per corner fitted and balanced
Thoughts on New Tire - Only had these things a few days and im yet to wear the new tire slick off, but so far they have transformed the car into something more comfortable, way quieter than the Continentals... Performance so far, steering feels a tonne lighter, no issues launching the car at all, holds right through the rev range, corners are sticky, will post an update after I get some k's on them.

Tire Replaced - Original Dealer issued Continental Sports Contact 2
Km's On Old Tire - 49,000km - These things lasted forever, I could of kept going but just wanted my car back.., got the car chipped at 8000kms and had no ability to launch the car without massive wheel spin for the last 15,000, they are quite predictable in the corners
Wet traction was quite good through out the life of this tire

Thoughts on New Tire - Great value for money. Super grippy and quiet. Even took a whole heap of harshness out of the ride. Feels like a different car. I want new tyres more often!

Tire Replaced - Goodyear Eagle F1
Km's On Old Tire - ~ 40,000km - Awesome grippy, quiet and even wearing tyre, though did become rather slippery toward the end of their life. Would have replaced with the same but the Bridgestone price was too good to pass up.

Just burnt through a front set of Dunlop sport maxx RT's (standard rims) in only 15,000km's of street driving. They were very progressive at the limit, good wet and dry but pushed wide under any sort of throttle on corner exit. The sidewalls were very soft and I can't help wondering if that contributed to the steering just feeling dead in the hand. Tyre wear was just stupid - I commute 300km a week on straight roads (0.00mm toe) and hammer through a few sections that I like when its quiet. It actually caught me out and now the fronts are too low to put on the back.

Is anyone able to compare the Michelin PS3 versus Bridgestone adrenalin RE002's? I've read that the RE002's are quite stiff so I'm curious if that translates into sharper turn in/road feedback. And the Michelins' 300+ tread wear rating concerns me - are they going to even grip!.

I can get AD08R's for comparable prices and may (unless someone raves about the above tyres) just go for a street semi. With a tread wear of 180 i'll bet I can go further on the yoko's than on the Dunlops.

Thoughts on new tire - I have driven a golf mk5 with re002's and Kumho ku36 on stock rims and golf mk6 with Continental Sport contact 3 and the PS3's feel like another level. Imo, in terms of grip they are almost as good as the Ku36 in dry grip and more comfortable and quiet than the Re002's/CSC 3's. Going up to 50 profile has made the ride a lot more compliant and it has also filled the guard more with no rubbing (lowered on eibach pro springs).

Tires replaced:205/45/16 2x no name at front and 2x continental sport contact 2 at rear 80,000 km (car was purchased at 50,000km with them on)

This setup was noisy as hell. Being lowered on springs the 45 profile also felt harsh on Sydney's roads.

Thoughts on new tire - quiet and ultra grippy compared to factory continentals. as grippy as marangoni which i replaced with these PS3's. overall stability in the corner is great and feedback from road is very very nice. i have not driven to limits in the corners yet but seems like the dry limit will be as good a marangoni if not a touch better (and light years ahead of factory continentals). don't care about wet performance because i'm in Adelaide and the roads are hardly wet here.

Love new tyres - its like im driving a new car again.

Tires replaced:205/45/16 x4 Marangoni Zeta. these were super grippy when new in dry and also ok in wet (slid a bit but very controllable at the limit. after 15000kms they became crap. even had problems with one deflating slowly from 36psi to 22 psi over a week. i put up with it - the tyre has probs where the sidewall met the tread. and always noisy. ok for the money but i wont buy again.

In the market for some new tyres. Based in Perth but getting quoted 275 per corner for Yoko AD08, 220 for Pilot Sport 3. Would anyone know where to get some good deals in Perth?

Anyone got any new thoughts on this? I'm about due to replace the Michelin PS3s on Polly. I've actually been really impressed with this tyre and would happily buy again. I think car grip is probably limited by suspension performance at this point... Damn 'cheap' Konis.

For track runners, the Hankook Ventus Z221's are definitely a step above the Yokohama Advan A048. The Advan's felt like they would pin up and slide more easily than the Ventus, even though the front Advan's were 205 (195 rear) while the Ventus were 195 all around.

And more quantatively, the Advans were 2 seconds a lap slower than the Ventus

I think the weight difference was insignificant in providing the superior grip - certainly I was able to set faster times with the 205 width A048's than the 195 A048's

By smaller overall, do you mean smaller diameter? I think it would generally help by reducing the gearing as road gearing is too high for most tracks.

Anyone tried the Michelin Pilot Sport 3's at all?

Looking to go 215/45/16 (slim pickings) on a 16x7.5 wheel and take advantage of the extra rim width.

Stuwey I have had PS3s in 205/45 and 205/50 on mine. They're not track tyres but you won't miss anything on the street. I've had the car two years, one year of that at stage 3 and recently with the mcas, and to be really honest, I STILL come out of the odd corner thinking 'holy f*ck this thing is fast.' the tyres put up with what I throw at them. Under abnormally fast conditions I can get them to push barrelling into roundabouts too fast. But, you would rarely have too lanes of run off in the mountains and that's at a speed I'm fighting the instinct to touch the brakes. Otherwise a great street tyre which can be had cheap cheap occasionally.
