After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • I need your HELP!

    Hey all,

Im looking to buy replica MKV GTi wheels from Tempe Tyres. The wheels are 17x7.5 with an offset of +45.

I realise that I need to buy wheel adaptors to allow fitment for 5x112, Im wondering what size adaptors do I need ie 20mm, 25mm etc or do I have to get something that is 0mm because the 17's are so much wider being 7.5.

Something to note is I have lowered springs FRONT 2.5 inches BACK 2 inches.

I will be fitting 205/40 tyres.

Shortly I will be adding coilovers and the drop will be 60mm all round.

    I appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Colin

Colin, bad news I'm afraid. You won't be able to get those Mk5 GTI replica wheels on.

On Saturday I saw Eddy's wheels and he has 8mm (as far as I can remember) spacers on to widen his track which makes his std wheels rub on the inside of the fenders. He had to raise his car 5mm at the back to make it fit.

The adaptors to fit 5x112 wheels are 20mm think (cost $700) and means that the wheels will surely rub even with std ride height. Having your car lowered means it will even be worse......

Bummer, Yeah the adaptors to fit 5x112 are a min 20mm thick. That sucks big time as these are the only wheels I would upgrade to.

Oh well if its not possible its not possible.

Who said bigger was better anyway! HA
