  • Polo Alarm

Hey guys...I have had my Polo GTI for 3 months now, and the other day, I tried to open it without unlocking it, and the alarm went off!!! Hahahaha, I didn't realise I had an alarm, and I have read the manual from cover to cover a couple of times now!!!
What blows me away is, that try as I might, when I tried to get the alarm to go off again, I can't get the alarm to go off!!
Another thing, after reading a couple of threads, I have noticed that a few of you guys get the alarm to "beep" when you unlock the car, but my car dosn't do this. Any Ideas or thoughts.

You have a number of seconds (i think it's around 10) to turn the ignition on, or no alarm. The car has to be locked for 30 seconds or something before it will go off again.

Also, I have my beep turned on recently. Stupidest thing I've done... It is way too loud, extremely high pitched and doesn't even sound any good. I'm turning it off at first oppurtunity.

I was wondering if having the windows open at the time may have had something to do with it, because after reading the manual, it says "Movement inside the vehicle(In vehicles with interior monitoring)", which I have, as the button dose work. I had read that these did have an alarm in the manual, but it had "Applies to vehicles with anti theft alarm...", and dismissed it as I hadn't picked the alarm option, so I was a bit thrown with it. I take it that it dose come standard then??
I have attempted the the timing thing, and tried the door while the car is dead locked, but still no alarm

It goes off if you attempt to open the car from the inside after locking it with the button on the key.

I played with mine for ages (lucky I live on 5 acres )

I realised I had an alarm on the GTI when I left the dog in it while I ducked into the milk bar. Poor little fella must have crapped himself

Surely there would have been evidence if he crapped himself? hehe

There is a little button on the right hand wall under the window behind the driver seat that you can press to de-activate the internal sensor. This is when you leave a moving body in the car whilst locking the doors with the remote.

Alarm will go off when a door is opened, but movement inside is then OK....... (any movement)

Would have solved all your problems .....

There sure is sharkie, found that now. The placement of it is terrible, its not easy to get to when your trying to get out of the car quickly so the puppy doesn't escape.

After washing the car the other day, I had accidently left the wipers "up". The car had been locked for about half an hour and when I went to put them down, the wiper slipped and slapped quite hard on the windscreen. To my surprise, the alarm went off. Had to race back inside to get the keys. Quite funny.

if you lock the car with the windows down, reaching in through the open window sets the alarm off

Yeah, thats how I think I set mine off, as I had left the windows down, but had locked the car up...The things you learn...

in addition to this, once the button is pressed to de-activate the 'microwave sensors', this only last for one time that the car is locked, not forever. so the next time you lock the car, the sensors will be back on. a bit of a pain in the ass if you have to stop a few times on a trip with a passenger or dog in the car, you have to keep pressing the button every time you get out.

If you press your remote key locking button twice, that is the first stage to lock the car and then again, this will de-activate the internal sensors.

That switch next to the drivers seat then does not need to be used.
