Brake pad sensor are a complete circuit until they hit the discs and this breaks the circuit. If when you are using non standard pads these connectors require a jumper lead. Not sure how you managed to keep the light off by simply Yanking off the cable unless you are pulling it from the pads which means the circuit is still complete. When the disc strikes the connector and breaks the circuit thats when the light comes on . Interesting that you say heat as thats what brakes are all about (heat)
Cheers.
Sensors differ the fact that yours work ok disconnected then they must be in disconnected state in the pads and when they hit the disc they make a circuit , doea that make sense its all about making or breaking the circuit - and by the way im only trying to help yarrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
