  • APR K04 Kit prices - Over priced ?

I wonder if anybody had a look at APR's K04 kit's prices lately.

Previously the (highish) price included the K04, the 4bar fuel pressure regulator and I believe the software.

Now the fuel pressure regulator is an extra $199 and wait for it ....

The software if you are an existing customer is $699 if you buy the APR kit.

If you supply your own K04 the price now is $999 for the software ....

Guy I think these price increases need a bit of clarification.

I think the K04 software should only be the $290 for an additional program on top of the existing remap. Does the definition of "additional program" not include a remap for a K04?

Sharkie, whatever your dissapointment, it's hardly appropriate or necessary to use the words "rip-off" in your thread title, and if you want to know why the prices have changed, then speak to Guy directly. Guy doesn't run a charity - he runs a business, and the market will respond to whatever pricing structures he has in place. No one is forcing you to purchase anything from APR, as a consumer, you have choice.

      you gotta pay to play!
If you arent happy with a particular supplier. shop around. Biggest problem is the lack of competant people to do this sort of stuff in Australia.

Why don't you give Guy a call. With the strong Australian dollar I'm sure you can work something out...

Actually just saw this thread & the pricing is wrong (the entire K04 section of our website was recently overhauled) so we will have it fixed within a couple of days.

Sharkie, you should have called us first.

Due to the influx of the Chineese copies of the K04, we have strict guidlines on the warranty.

So for anyone contemplating purchasing their own K04, check out the warranty on the part - Before you buy.

I was also a bit confussed over the pricing. A quick phone call solved that.

Maybe I was a bit harsh with my wording .....

I was up early and having a look to plan my upgrades for the year. Had a shock reading the prices on the website and am sure nobody would have liked a clarification call at 6:00 am.

I will never recommend a Chinese copy of a K04, but you can get an original K04 (made in Germany) from the USA landed in Oz for AU$1200.

Since I need to do the FMIC and brakes next month, with the K04 around June, my planning was thrown out by an apparent $900+ jump in cost.

If pricing goes up by that kind ofa an amount all of a sudden it is true that you start looking at alternative suppliers. It is also our duty as loyal customers to query and indicate to Guy that we find that kind of price hike excessive.

no probs shark, bit of passion and sense of injustice coming through - we can understand that

on the US price landed, sure, you can get stuff cheaper that way, particularly with the current exchange rate. but with extra you pay for the software afterwards, that advantage begins to diminish. more importantly, if I was going KO4, I'd want back up if things went wrong, and if I had the choice between unknown distant supplier in the US and a local who backs his gear 100% (no questions asked), to me it's a no-brainer, the few hundred you save can be false economy. back-up and support is part of the value of a product.

You can alternatively grab the parts from Guy and DIY.

Or the parts from another supplier/tuner and DIY

Or get everything in a package and done by Guy or someone else

Or source the parts yourself from where ever you believe is good and choose what program/chip/tune you want from who..

All depends on what your after!
                  What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
