Unless they are something more than fitted mats the same colour as the carpet with holes to fit the tabs then I'd say yes, they've dudded you.

Paid $26,990 driveaway for standard GTI in July 07 for a Mar 07 plated car. Rang the dealer and said if he threw in tint I'd come in sign and pay deposit that day - which he did.

I wouldn't be paying $26,990 now for an 07 plated car - if you sell it a week later it is already a year old. Wait until they have 08 plated cars in stock and you'll get the same deal.

Or if you buy an '07 plated car I'd be looking for a better price and tell the dealer you KNOW they do deals for new stock at $26,990 and you will wait until they have 08 stock. I'll bet they will better the price to have you buy now for an 07 car.

I'm not sure with your prices. But the prices I quoted were fully onroad drive away prices. At the moment they are doing free onroads and stamp duty. But thats only until the end of Feb. If I buy after that the price will go up $3000...

I have a Red GTI and love it however I did see a White GTI the other day at Toowong Village in Brisbane with colour coded front and rear aprons and side skirts and it seriously looked hot!

Really..... colour coded? I havent seen a white one in the flesh at a dealer. But I Would have thought the grey on the rear bumper and side skirts would accentuate the white, I thought it'd look good standard. I'll have to look up a bunch of pics tonight to see which colour I like.

Mine was $26,990 driveaway - no other costs.

This price is achievable anytime of the year (Without much trouble might I say) and is what quite a few members have paid.

Forget the extra $3,000 - that's just sales talk to get you to buy now.

If you can, I'd hang off until you can get an '08 manufactured (not complianced) car. As soon as they are on the floor for sale the dealer will be even more desperate to offload any '07 models left and I'm sure you would get an even better price than $26,990 for the 07 cars.

Last year's cars are harder to shift than yesterdays bread for a baker.

Dealers rely on selling them to people who don't know any better.

Not when i bought my car which was 3 weeks ago. $290 rrp for custom mats out of the accessories brochure.

did everyone else get them standard. was i jipped?

How is the leather seats? I have an astra convertible and its smoking hot inside during summer especially the steering wheel

I park mine outside at work everyday in Brisbane (30+ days) and it's never been even hot enough to think about it. Much better than my Civic that didnt have leather.

i find the leather seats good, they don't get too hot. the steering wheel is fine in the heat, it doesn't really heat up that much!

hey everyone. i've been down to the dealer today.

red gti with sunroof and ipod adaptor $28,000. brand new, built august 2007, 08 complianced

asked if they could make it 27,500. but they said no. i walked away and said i'll think about it. they said they will ring me tomorrow, hopefully with a lower price.

sales lady quoted $28,500 first off. knocked $500 off after i said i didnt really want a sun roof

she also tried to 'throw in' free mats.. until i corrected her since they are standard.

wat to do think i can get the price down to?

Do you actually want the sunroof? If not, say that. Say, can you do this for $27,500 (or cheaper). Otherwise, get me a red GTI without sunroof. They will want to get rid of the stock they have in rather than selling one they would have to get in.

both cars they have in stock have the sunroof. i didnt originally think of getting the sunroof (to save $$) but it seems ok if i can get $1000 off. and of course free onroads. (sunroof is $1490)

The car is six months old and last years stock. I'd remind them of that (several times) and push for a $26,990 driveaway deal. Ask them when they will have 08 plate cars (probably in the next 4 - 8 weeks) and tell them that you are willing to wait till then unless they can do a spectacular deal on the 07 cars.

I'm betting you'll get an 07 car with sunroof (really, what do you think they pay for it?) for $26,990 driveaway (maybe $27,500).

thanks peter, thats what i'm aiming for. they also have two in stock, which should work in my favour. i think they could easily get to 27,500
