i got mine from Barloworld in Mascot also. I paid $31,500 for black, leather, sunroof, tint, matts, headlight protectors. i was pretty happy with that. love the leather and love the sunroof.

Nah, $1k off the $3k for them. Thought that was better than the effort involved in selling them elsewhere.

I called a few people up this arvo, gonna haggle properly on the weekend when I can get up to a dealer. But already got em down to $26,000 on road, driveaway (standard gti, no leather or sunroof).

Hoping to hit $25,000-$25,500.

Edit: I'm looking at new from dealer too. Not 2nd hand.

Please let me know how you go with that! I was really hoping it to get it down even lower as people keep telling me that paying by cash gives them more 'lee-way'. I'm turning 21 and this is my second car and i really want it to be new :'( but it's really interesting to see the amount you guys are paying for it!

I got mine for $28,930 with sunroof + metallic paint. They didnt want to give it to me me for less than $30,700 so we walked out. A few days later they called back hinting they would take $29k.

If your buying a new one haggle the price and be prepared to walk away if you dont get it. They will call you back and offer it cheaper.

try looking for second hand or dealer demo's. My 1 year old dealer demo with 6K on the clock with Black metallic + floor mats + tint set me back $26,500 drive away. Their reasonably good if you can find one in good nick, but you'll have to live with the millions of fingernail scratches on the door handles.

I got mine in Janurary 2006 when the car just came out. Boy was the dealer happy to sell me in full RRP. I paid 30500 for no optioned car,

but lucky because denlo had a 5 year extended warranty(2 extra) for all cars except for the golf gTI and R32. Those bugger try to get away from having to give us the warranty as the word "GTI" as mentioned in the clause with "golf". AAANNNNDDD they stuffed up our order and put tints and "paint protection" on the car and they try to give us another car. mwhahaha now i thought i'll get my 30500 worth of a car, told them to bugger off and that i am getting THAT car cuz of after 2.5 months worth of wait.

I just came back from the dealer. Put a deposit on, I've gotta decide on colour tomorrow. I can have a Red one with sunroof, tint, ipod connector (also 08 compliance) for $27,599. OR a White or red one with tint, ipod connector (07 Compliance) for $26,500......

Not sure whether or not to get white or red now, they only had a red one there. Looked great, but i'd love to see a white one in the flesh.....

I have a Red GTI and love it however I did see a White GTI the other day at Toowong Village in Brisbane with colour coded front and rear aprons and side skirts and it seriously looked hot!

Paid $26,990 driveaway for standard GTI in July 07 for a Mar 07 plated car. Rang the dealer and said if he threw in tint I'd come in sign and pay deposit that day - which he did.

I wouldn't be paying $26,990 now for an 07 plated car - if you sell it a week later it is already a year old. Wait until they have 08 plated cars in stock and you'll get the same deal.

Or if you buy an '07 plated car I'd be looking for a better price and tell the dealer you KNOW they do deals for new stock at $26,990 and you will wait until they have 08 stock. I'll bet they will better the price to have you buy now for an 07 car.

paid $24,490 for my GTI. it was second hand with 24,000kms on the clock. metallic silver with black painted bonnet, leather trim, APR chip, $1,000 kenwood cd player, 17" Avanti rims, darkest legal tint. i think i did well.
