Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • OBD II and Scan Gauge

    Hi All

Sorry to be re hashing old posts...

But all the post I have read are a year or 2 old and I was wondering what the best option is for getting some more info out of the PoGs computer??

Is anyone still using either ODB II or the Scan Gauge setups?

    Any advice would be good.

    What info are you after?
With a ebay OBD cable you can do a little, I have used an android app with the little $11 bluetooth obd tool.

IMO, logging is good if you have an agressive tune, to tinker with timing you want lemmiwinks which requires a OBD cable (usb / serial)

really only looking, I don't want to adjust anything at all!!

I had an apexi power fc on a r33 and I liked to see what the car was doing.... max revs, speed, water temp etc..

i'm happy to use the obd ii bluetooth jobbie if you can tell me which one to get???

$11 seems a lot better than $180 for the scan gauge.....

      thanks

          OBD II and Scan Gauge

The OBD reader app does not measure boost, so mostly pointless. The device is an ELM327. It's the chipset, many variations available.

Thanks, so it doesn't say it's compatible with Iphone 5. Is there an app or something to work with the two?

                Cheers.

                    Hoyhoy.

Me have a Scan Gauge, but it's still in the box, will be playing with it soon.
The reason I went for the Scan Gauge was for the factor that the speedo can be calibrated (couldn't find any others to do this) which I think will make it easier to set cruise control, I find it a pain in the butt with the standard set-up, even though the Little Blue Girl hasn't been out of the shed since last year, still in pieces.
Plus the main reason me went for a OBD gauge is for inlet temps. while tracking.
                    Hooroo.

ok cool. I figured that was the one you had. The vehicle compatibility chart doesn't have our car on there (only the 1.4L) so I just wanted to check that it had been plug and play for you.
