  • tt225 fuel pump

Errr, so this probably isn't the best forum but...

I'm sticking a dual pick up audi 225 fuel pump in the polo, which has a second suction line on top - I had a quick look this morning and was called into work... Now it's a tomorrow job.

The question is - what do I do with the second pickup? I'm thinking...

    a: cap it
b: put a fuel line on it, a strainer and strap it the plastic cage to draw fuel in a regular manner?
    c: errr... uh?

In any case the first idea is to prevent air entry, but I'm concerned both inlets may be required to allow the pump to supply 'x' ccpm. Does the pump draw offside fuel through a strainer in a tt setup? I've looked at a lot of tt images this afternoon and can't find a clear picture on how this setup works.

    Any educated opinions appreciated.

    Cheers

The TT runs a second pump on the other side of the tank. This feeds that other inlet. I reckon you can get away with blocking it or another pipe with a gauze on the end going into the bottom of the basket somehow.

How about teeing it to the other pickup?

        tt225 fuel pump

        So it looks like this:

        And this:

I can't really get a good feel for how the second inlet is going to work, blowing in it didn't yield miracles, soooo I'm thinking about running a second fuel hose through the original basket top with a strainer... I can't imagine anything bad happening with this, it's actually a pretty good fit. Like this:

I expect theres a check valve preventing the fuel running backwards through this inlet, in that case having anything on the second inlet might be pointless. If I weren't scared for damaging the pump I'd run it up in a tub of something. Reckon water would hurt it?

            tt225 fuel pump

I tested the two in various configurations yesterday and recorded the results. Ill post the up when I get a chance but essentially, the tt225 pump flows 12% more than the polo pump.
