Mitch, my response was more in reply to Spec and I probably should have made that clearer - I understood that your jest was just that.

To elaborate: Whilst we got very clear guidelines about discussions of on road behaviour, the mod bit is a bit muddier. Anything that is clearly on the side of wrong, i.e. tone as well as content will however have to be considered a fair target for moderation regardless. This is the reason why I accepted the reported post I received as being indeed a valid complaint and thus deleted the post in question.

I.e. if you want to praise the value of wrong mods, do it elsewhere. Informing someone that something they might do is something they really should think twice about and maybe providing "good" alternatives is however a different thing.

Guys I see your point in regards to environment - I still think it was unjustified as I am sure some of us have a non-ADR emmissions compliant ECM chips installed

Dave - I am with you.. a road trip to Newcastle is not THAT far

Those ECM chips tend to get _better_ fuel efficiency for the same style of driving actually. This would have to improve emissions if anything.

In my experience ... the chips DO improve fuel efficiency. Highway cruising, even on hot days with the aircon on, my fuel consumption drops to approx. 7.0litres/100kms or slightly under.

Haha, they'd slaughter the ADR ones anyway. We're just way behind in this country....

No there's not but this site doesn't condone it.

                            Hey All...

Digging up an old thread I know, but I made a few calls this morning for all of us QLD guys looking to get a downpipe done...

Simon from Exotic Exhaust at Sumner Park has first hand experience with the 1.8T (acually had a MkIV GTI getting a turbo-back exhaust on the hoist when I called) and from the sounds of it can do a 2.5" dump pipe in mild steel for a decent price... He said he had not particuarly done a Polo GTI but expected that it would not differ too much from the MkIV.

I can't recommend these guys enough - had some piping work done by them on my old excel and the quality was top notch. I am going to check it out tomorrow morning so I'll let you all know how i go

You got exhaust work done on an excel?

I thought Guy did it at Harding Performance too.
