Where did you get the armrest from (link if possible)?

I know a few other polo owners have said the ones from ebay don't fit properly or you have to drill the floor to get them to stay in place

Arm rest was purchased from VW in china. They came as an option on the Polo out there.

Just interested in knowing about your gearbox

Where the hell did you find a 02S

Are they weaker than the 02M, read somewhere they are not as strong ?

How does it feel with all that power and your LSD, getting power down etc ?

                      Found info that says
"The 02S 6 speed, which is what the 'upgrade' is making your stock 5 speed into, is the weakest box in the VW range IMO. They sell for crazy money here as they fail often on stock 105bhp cars."

Troy over the past few years I have come across many of these boxes and have bought 4 of them for between £200-£300
Thing is most people don't know what they are looking for and secondly the way some of these boxes have been listed on eBay it isn't clear what it is unless you know what you are looking for.

You are correct in stating that the 02M boxes are stronger than the 02S but I am yet to see someone fit the 02M into the polo and my understanding is there would be a lot of work to do due to the size of it and I'm sure the subframe would need modding too.

I have know many guys to run the 02S with 1.8t engines with around 300-320bhp without any issues so that's been good enough for me.

Being honest 1st gear may as well not be there but 2nd gear upwards its fine you just need to hold the steering wheel as you feel the power being transferred from wheel to wheel.

When the car comes back out ill be getting the map amended and will also include gear based boost to help with the lower gears and the extra power as I expect to be pushing about 350BHP and around 320 torque from 30PSI of boost and the new head which has been ported.

Been a little slack on the updates due to waiting for dates to come round but the time has finally come and car went off on Saturday for the bay to be painted
                            On the tow truck

Went down last night to remove the BBS and will pop back Saturday for some update pics.

Engine has now been put back together with upgraded head. Although as with everything I do to the car this was not a smooth transaction.
I had the head checked over and there were many issues
Cams showing wear due to oil starvation
                            Various lifters were past it
All valves were not sealing due to not being seated correctly when originally put together.

Also while I was at it I checked how the block and there were scores in the bores due to grit from when the intake from when it was sand blasted and powder coated so got the following
                            Another block
                            Had the new block bored
all new bearings, head bolts and head gasket etc

So basically have a whole new engine ready to go in. Have bolted most of the bits to it so will get new pics but here are a few before

Oil starvation, not the first one I heard of..... Were the journals in the head ok? That's where mine was going/gone.

Something strangely satisfying bolting an engine together though I found.

                              Looking forward to the updates.

Journals had minor marks that were able to be polished out.
This is the problem buying second hand parts but at least I now know everything is new and perfect.
Block has new rings and bearings etc and head is all done fresh.

Can't wait to get the car back from having the bay painted so I can get it back together and start the running in process
