And this is my update afer taking this up wth Batteries drect who I bought the battery from:

My 2 month old battery would not hold charge for greater than 24 hours.
I went to an auto electrician here, who said the battery is faulty (have documentation). However batteries direct wanted additional information regarding CCA ??? I took it to a few more places, including the general REPCO's, and all stated that their equipment showed it faulty, but could not provide all the information batteries direct wanted.
I once again spoke to Batteries direct, and said I needed a battery for my car. They stated that the best bet was to buy a new battery, and send the old one in. They would then refund the money post their tests.
I did so, but after speaking to them now, they have stated that the battery is not faulty ???
So an auto electrician and a few generic battery places say it is, and they say it’s not (interesting).
I have now spent an additional $180-00 on a second battery, and I am told that they cannot or are not prepared to do anything about it.
Oh BTW: my new battery holds charge, but they said that must mean I have an intermittent fault ???

      Just a bit of feedback.......

        Headaches...

Not trying to push the pain further, but my original battery from the '06 is still going...

Time to speak to a manager there, if you are not getting the answers you want, if a new one works where the old one did not, and they asked you to send the old one back, then you have done the right thing.

Don't be scared to start talking about the ACCC if you feel you've done the right thing, alternately you could get your bank involved if you paid via credit card.

With a qualified auto sparky documenting that it was faultly I would pursue it. I am assuming that Vic has some sort of consumer protection government agency, that would be my first port of call.

Sounds like they are just trying to stiff you.

Most likely will take it to ACCC.
            Bit frustrating...but learned a lesson

Try consumer affairs mate. Don't think this falls under the ACCC's mandate.

You will need to do a current drain test to check for a parasitic drain before calling the battery otherwise itll do it again with new one. Not a hard test just need a decent multimeter fused. You check at neg terminal with it disconnected and use multimeter in series, i normally look for around 50 millamps, some of the larger stuff naturally draws more and you have to wait till they are in sleep mode. Anyway thats the best test, and the head unit is a very good place to start
Cheers. The test can be time consuming if not found easily, be honest i prefer them for a challenge but anyway see how you go

Just thought I'd tack onto this thread...

I had a lovely call from the missers this afternoon.. car won't start. I'm pretty sure it's just a dud battery. From what I can tell, it hasn't been changed since 2008, so probably right on time. The indicator is black and it reads 11.6V at rest.. funny enough I've never had a battery go dead from natural causes, but I assume it's gone.

Just wanted to double check that the ETX14 is the way to go.
I have the MMP battery box from Ant, and he mentioned he ran the ETX14. From what I can see, it's rated at 200CCA. Obviously I realise there will be no sitting in the car with the radio on, just want to check most peoples experiences. The pog is generally our car of choice whenever we go anywhere and the missers uses it for work every day so it won't be sitting for long periods without use.

11.6 does sound that little bit too low.
My 2006 is still going, cant be relied on much longer...

The 200CCA is not enough and the battery will have a very short lifespan.
