Thanks for taking the time to post up. As I said initially I guess the main outcome I am after is the look, but at the same time I understand enough to know that taking a hacksaw to the existing coils isn't the answer!! I'm not much of a tinkerer, not because I don't want to but more I don't really have the time. I'm an Executive Director in my day job and have a motorsport photography business as well. The Polo will be something that could maybe add a little to the photog business as it will get people at least looking at the car.
So... I'm prepared to pay up to $1k landed for suspension, so I shouldn't end up with crap, but I don't think I will have the time, or the inclination to spend on adjusting suspension. My research and (extremely) limited knowledge indicates that a H&R lowered coil and Bilstein B8 is a great combo. It should be better than std, will certainly give me the look I'm after. With a Milltek system it should get some heads turning to at least see where that noise is coming from.
I guess the only other consideration is whether the FK Konigsport coilies will perform better tat the H&R + Bilstein combo, given that I'm unlikely to spend the time it would require to get them set up optimally.
