They will be pressed in .

I still dont understand why everyone goes to so much effort to get 20-30kw more than a regular ko4 ?
Water-meth , carbon fibre bits , some lighter wheels etc will give you the same rate of acceleration ..
If your going to do a big turbo I would start at gt2871r as a minimum . A nicely built 2.0l bottom end with a set of cams and a good intake . Anyway , my 1.8t is finished , just need to finish off some coolant pipework and intake before it will roar to life .
LSD and sticky tyres is a must if you want traction , as are some stiffer mounts and decent suspension .

Which bit ? Engine rebuild ? Turbo kit ? Water meth ?
Then there is the question of what hardware is already on the car !

How old is the gearbox ?
If the car makes decent power I prefer changing the syncros to mk4 GTI types as they are more durable for more power .

2006 95000kms. I will probably change the clutch to a stage two ECS unit at the same time. Are you based in Sydney?

Was thinking of using a different gearbox as i know i will want more power one day, was thinking of a o2m 6 speed or something.

Guess it is a good option to use the MK4 syncros, is it expensive ?

Id do a full rebuild , pending on how good your gears , ring and pinion etc are .
Ive had my shop pretty much since I left VW Racing in 2004 in Sydney , out in Parramatta

Id draw the line from an 02J to 02M once you go over 400hp

Assume it's got nothing done to it. You could list it all:

                      Engine rebuild
                      turbo kit
                      FMIC
                      Exhaust and DP
                      water meth kit
                      gearbox internals/LSD

Is he looking at $10K or more?

Guessing it would easily be over 10K

$10k would probably just cover the engine and turbo build .

Ive just finished a 450HP Audi A4 and his bill was just under $20k . It just needs so magic by Parso to bring it all together

don't want to know exact amount but parts and labour will be over 10k including turbo, and im getting discounted labour

I think you hit it on the head there, why people don't fit a big turbo and build a 2 litre with cams and water meth. It doesn't make real sense to put more than 10 grand into a car that's worth 15.

I know some folk do but it's not the norm.

And for the 1.8T, you can add a stroker kit with compression drop to that list
