Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Need an opinion on these wheels...

    Enkei GTC01, Hyper Black --

I did a rough shop to see what they would look like --

Has anyone seen them on a polo? I saw them on Sat at the pog wars on a red MK6 and I loved them.
They come in 17x8 ET35, which according to a wheel calculator gives me 16mm less clearance on the inside and they'll protrude 22mm.
Any educated guesses whether these will fit?

Hey mate, those are hot looking wheels especially against the red. Saw them on Sat too. The good news is they will fit if the come in PDC of 5x100. They are exactly the same size as my RPF1's. The bad new is if you want to run anything wider than a 205 tyre you may have to get your guards rolled. I had some Goodyear 215/40R17 GS-D3's which I don't think would have scrubbed if my guards weren't rolled. Bit of stretch was present. Where as even though my Federals are the same size I had to roll the guards even more because of how wide they are.

    Cheers.

35 offset is just a scratch too much offset IMO, but very close either way. Likely to rub, but look great (love my Enkei's).

        Good stuff
Yep they come in the magical 5x100.
Mind if I asked where you sourced your Enkeis from?

8inch, at ET35, is spot on. My OZs scrub just a whisker on the front left, with 215/40/17 Pirelli's. No scrub at all with the Bridgestone in the same size though.

                Do eeeeeeet!

Shame. I'd love some nice light 16" wheels with big grippy tyres.

Nice, Well I've sent an enquiry to tirerack.com to see if they can get them in the right specs.
If they can, all systems go.

Would people recommend just ordering the rims and sourcing tyres here?

Get them to send the tyres separate to the rims mate. That way you miss the import taxes etc. But get tyres from them for sure, so much cheaper than here

They are good wheels i had them on my liberty. how wide are the wheels you have now? i would hazard a guess and say 7inch which means the maths is out. 16+22=38mm which is more then 1 inch change. if your going from 6 to 7inch and there 16mm less on the inside then you would get about 8-9mm protudeing.

                            Need more low...

I run a 39 offset with 8" wide Enkei's, 215. I rub, i run the KW's a bit lower than i had the H&R's. The front sway helps keep it fairly flat, the arch lining will need to be pushed up over the tab at the highest point to make a little more space.

Anyone gone through their arch lining?

Anthony and I were talking about this on Saturday.. Anyone know the legality of just removing the arch liners?
