Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not recently, but I did a while back.

If I had access to a workshop, I could do a lot more (mounting brackets, tabs, etc).

Supposed to have great product, but with the THS and Seat units being a factory fit and competitively priced, why bother?

Still have to work out the piping yourself...

Yeah true, especially with the price of the THS cooler.

You 9n guys are really lucky like that.

Did you check with Darkside if their plumbing kit for the SEAT FMIC suited the GTi?

I didn't see that, they mention the Seat kit, didn't see it was something they offered.

Not having much luck with Matt, might have to sort the piping myself...

If there are a few of us, we could work together.

There is a shopping list of parts to get for the seat intercooler. Including a fitting instruction. Im on the phone so cant go looking for the thread easily.

I worked it out to be about $160 for the clamps and pipes on top of the 283 pounds so it works out to be about 550ish

Im going to go ahead and order the cooler soon so if any of you are genuinely keen, PM me and ill see if i can get a couple sent over and we can share the shipping costs.

Is that all the THS set up is going to cost, ~$550 for core and pipes? So I just need to work out fitting??

I based it on the current conversation of 283gbp = 440aud. Then did a rough estimate of the shopping list which was 160aud . Ill confirm some exact numbers when i get home tonight

Also havent excluded VAT from that either lol so would be cheaper again.

Think you need to factor freight, THS don't seem to sell direct now, so you're likely looking at another $100 or so for shipping (THS was 80 pounds a core). You then need the Seat brackets, silicone bits, aluminium bits, MAP sensor flange and clamps. Then need to get the flange welded on (hoping we can pool resources on this one, don't have time to go wandering in my area to find anyone).

It can likely be done cheaper, but you'd be doing well to get away under $700.

Matt (FLYINGTI) is pricing up the silicone sections and clamps for me, hoping we might get a decent price and be able to put a little business through him. PM him if you are genuinely interested in getting the core.

I just wonder how different the diesel IC plumbing layout is vs the GTi - I thought it was pretty much the same.

                                Where from?

Forge just quoted me 230 pounds to ship their cooler over. Seems a bit steep?
