You should tube, tubeless tyres. The ribs inside the tyre can wear through the tube over time.

I wouldn't be tight with something like a tyre, much as it might sicken you, you have to go with the new tyre option.

One reason for them refusing to plug a tyre could be liability down the track. Imagine the tyre blows out down the track and you turn up looking for compo.

That's my philosophy, too. In the end result, it is those four, quite small, contact patches that keep you on the table. Not worth risking one of them failing when it can be mitigated

In my experience your average workshop staffed by your average yobs don't think that strategically. They are strongly motivated by the desire to make the maximum $$$$ from the ignorant punter standing in front of them.

Turn up looking for compo down the track and expect a blank stare followed by gales of laughter.

Got a large roofing screw in the right rear of the R32 the other day. Exactly dead centre of the trread. Thankfully it was an old tyre that was awaiting replacement (now done) and I had a full sized spare.

my darling wife ran over a 30cm long screwdriver, was embedded right up to the end of the handle.

claimed it on the tyre insurance ($8 per tyre) and got a brand new tyre fitted for free!!
