This was done only late in May, had a feel today seems OK.

    • Bolts and then intercooler pipes, Eddy! Sounds like you've been through what I went through...but with a permanent solution on the bolts. How did you manage access to change all the bolts and wire them -- do you have a 3rd arm joint and ET's fingers??...or did you drop the motor?

REally - wow could the turbo actually fall off if left unattended?

          • Why use spring washers on a hot section area? The heating/cooling takes the tension out of the spring.

Star washers would be more durable.

I think your best fix is the lock wiring.

                      • Light bulb came on in the Jmac head yesterday and i think i might have just the answer for this issue and it hasnt been mentioned yet. Now im not going to jump and blab just what yet but merely letting you guys with this well known problem know it hasnt been forgotten about and the fact i have a Pog in my possesion at the moment with a K04 hanging off the time is right. For this one i will be wirelocking the new VW bolts with 20 thou stainless wire but at the same time ill be trying the big fix to see if it works, stay tuned , im excited and if it works im sure a group buy will be in order. So at the moment a work in progress, but letting you know something good may happen
                        Cheers

                          • Hoyhoy.

Major update, my remedy didn't work, went fine untill the next track day.
Here's the funny part the bolts didn't come loose with the lock wire, but they did stretch which allowed for the gasket to blow.
                            Me don't know whats next.

                            • Eddy i have an ( idea) engineered already but in practice on a K04 lately it needs a bit more thought, so bloody close its not funny, idea is simple and caters for the stretching mate, keeping the cards at the chest at the moment, i feel your pain boss, ive lockwired too, but i agree if it stretches the lockwire will hold but the stretch will allow "just" enough for blow and where they ( the bolts) are is crucial as you will loose boost. Bit more time hopefully mate

Ta Jimmy, but I have to do something now.
Me have a Ko4 on the little girl & it went well for 5 months untill me hit the track again.
I first heard it halfway through the day, but still done OK with 1.13.1 at Wakefeild.
