Hey Leitch. have you instaled this kit yet? And so how long did it take to ship to Brisbane? ECS Tuning site says they now accept Paypal. I'm not used to Website pruchases etc was it easy to order and any hints for a novice please, Al.
PS The AUD $ is looking good value currently so I should order as soon as possible.

ECS ship pretty quick. If you order tonight, it'll probably arrive Monday or Tuesday.

Not installed yet, lined up with Jmac for it to go in at next service in a few weeks. Super easy to order from ECS especially paying with PayPal as you said. Shipped Thursday arrived Tuesday.

Also Gavin sorry I never got back to you the other night. CEL seems to have been sorted out for the moment.

Thanks leitch, I could also replace the front brake disc rotors so while I'm at it i noticed they have these Volkswagen Golf IV 1.8T > ECS News > Volkswagen ECS GEOMET Coated Rotors but which part suits? I have slotted and would go the crossdrilled and slotted. Or is there better options for rotors elsewhere? Cheers Al

Hey - I've been watching this thread because I am putting in a new clutch in the next few weeks and was wondering what everyone thought of this - it's apparently a popular choice for the MK4 GTI and works out about $400 shipped with substancial warranty.

Yep fitted one no less than 2 months ago on a Mk4. Wasnt fitted for spool up but a better upgrade from the OEM, just ask peanutbutterwolf, noting wrong with it and less chatter. Yes the 14ibs does chatter, but thats well known, i fitted penty of them and good few to members cars. They have had zero issues.
                Anyway horses for courses.
                Cheers

Please do a search. There are heaps of threads on ECS clutch kit. I have used one for 3 years now. Jmac gave a very sound advice then to avoid the bearing from the kit and buy the VW genuine which I did.

What is it that chatters? I can't wrap my head around it... I've had lwfw's (really light!) and never experienced any chatter. (That being said the setup was a little different to the conventional style) Is it the clutch plate? It sounds like mismatched components... really curious to know

I think it's over sensitive ears myself, I had a lightened FW in my A3 and it never made a peep. Every manual VW I had in the UK had the same solid FW set up as fitted to these 1.8Ts as upgrades, they don't make any noise.

Yep nothing to worry about at all, Gav you never heard it in the Uk becasue you didnt have Aircon on, if you have a 1.8T with aircon on loading up the engine at the lights they do tend to chatter, its not imagination it happens but who cares? of the many ive fitted the owner never complains about it, mountain being made out of a molehill really.
                        Happy chattering!

If its rattling it may be time to change the gearbox oil . Been fitting the ECS ones for over 8 years now and no issues
