Top link is the normal forge unit for our car.
Thermally it does well, its the potential flow issue, which cripples the turbos peak performance, or so it's been shown on 1 particular unit.

I've been thinking the Forge core has to few tubes, as it makes 2 passes. It's not much taller than a normal design, where as the Seat core is practically 2 small coolers stacked vertically.

Sorry, I should take this to the other thread...

The Forge on my car performed best/equal best in terms of thermal cooling/intake temps, but I'm expecting to see a bit of discrepancy between requested and actual boost as I was peaking at ~19 psi where others were hitting 21.5+ which I'd expect to attribute to the pressure drop over the cooler. The restrictive stock exhaust on my car would have to contribute, too, of course...

I desperately NEED an intercooler! From what I saw, everyones temps sat around 35-50 deg even under full power. My poor little factory SMIC was topping out at 88 degrees... Bit more power to unlock there methinks.

EBay Apr style. Sorry can't remember whether Jason's or Sharkies were better.
          Stock side mount.

Interesting though was the Forge and Seat were the only two that didn't suffer from heatsoak.
          1. Forge - Leitch - kept temp increases amazingly low through all 3 runs.
          2. Ebay - Sharkie - outperformed the SEAT by a few degrees consistently across all 3 runs.
          3. SEAT - VWIndahouse - performed better than the APR by a few degrees consistently across all 3 runs.
          4. APR - Eddy - worst of the brand names in increase in each run.
          5. Ebay - Jasn78 - at least it is better than stock
          6. Stock - Spraycanmansam & GotBoost? - it sucks

You clearly can't even read your own figures

                2. Ebay - Sharkie - outperformed the SEAT by a few degrees consistently across all 3 runs.

                VWIndahouse 156.319 348.637 26 45 34 52 30 50
                Sharkie 151.603 312.014 27 40 35 51 39 57

For those that were not there I had 4 runs actually. The first looked as though I may have been leaning out so after the car sat running on the dyno for 5 minutes or so while we debated whether it was safe to continue we finally went again which should be the first run recorded here.

So my 4th run showed temps for 30 start and 50 finish.

As opposed to your 3rd run temps of 39 start and 57 finish.

You may want to google the meaning of the words "outperformed" & "consistently". Looks to me like Heatsoak got the better of your ebay job on your third run, but I'm just going off your figures of course.

I'm hoping to see the graphs to help understand.
Lower intake temps may marry up with lower torque figures in some cases.

Just want to say congrats to Eddy and thanks for making the trip up. Not so much for the dyno figures (although still King) but for your out of this world commitment to your blue girl. Those that saw those front strut tops and custom suspension set up for example will testify. So much thought, passion and commitment has gone into it and your track times confirm you know how to pilot it too. Good man!

We actually spent some time coaxing the temps down for the last run on your car .... by the time we got to mine and eddy's we spent a lot less time trying to get the temps down for the next run ....

So for your 3 runs, #1 19 degree increase, #2 18 degree increase, #3 20 degree increase from start of run to end

My 3 runs #1 13 degrees, #2 16 degrees, #3 18 degrees increase from start of run to end

Last time I checked 13,16 & 18 was consistently lower than 19, 18 & 20 thus no need to google if outperformed meant less or more ...... unless I'm wrong

Fair enough, but after spending the longest amount of time on the dyno and completing 4 runs over 3 would you class an intercooler with a final temp of 57 over 50 degrees "outperforming" the other?

Actually, the longer the cars sat idling on the dyno with the massive fans running the cooler they got. There was more than 2mins between your 2nd last run and last run compared to about 30s for everybody else. So that low start temp for the last run means nothing. The only car that was very consistent (and quick to return to start temp) by a huge margin was the forge ....

If we started you at 40 a 20 degree increase would have been 60? Outperformed, yes

One factor you need to put in the figures (that had not been calculated) is the ambient temperature.

First run at 9-00am we had an ambient of 17 degrees, at 1-00PM we had an ambient of 24.5 degrees. So the cars run later had a disadvantage of almost 8 degrees celcius.

If you used different dyno correction figures (which we chose not to), the cars run at a hotter ambient may have had an extra 3 - 4 % more power and torque added rather than that of the ones run earlier (they may have been normalised down 3 or 4 %.

This obviously has a great bearing on the results, INCLUDING the ability for the intercooler to do its job.

Taking donations for a temperature controlled dyno room - $750,000 should cover it
